Travel company takes to the road

A BLACKPOOL transport firm is in top gear after launching a new coach division.

Peel-based Check In has bucked the national trend of a fall in corporate travel by winning new contracts.

At a time when many larger companies are cutting back on luxury travel, the company is booming.

Bosses at the firm have also recruited more new drivers and have taken its fleet tally to 12 cars at its Peel Road coach department.

The family-run business was established seven years ago with a single car. It is now one of the most successful transport companies on the Fylde.

Andrew Humpage, director of Check In, said: "This is a massive step forward for the company and shows we are fighting the global recession.
"We started off with just a few cars but our quality of service has spread around the North West so we have been able to grow.

"From the school runs to chaffeuring executives about the region, we are very proud of what we have achieved and confident of more expansion in the future.

"We are confident the new coach division will see more sales growth during the summer and it will be in demand.

"We have enjoyed a good Easter and with more and more people choosing to stay in Blackpool we hope this will have a knock-on
effect for our business."

The company, which is based on the Peel Hall Industrial Park on Peel Road, already has a contract with Blackpool FC and has taken on a number of new customers over the past few months, including De Vere Hotels.

Its luxury fleet includes a range of cars including Jaguars, Mercedes and Toyota Prius.

Malcolm Humpage, managing director, added: "It is important to keep moving forward and not to let the economic crisis take over all aspects of the business.

"We believe focusing on customer needs and providing them with a quality service they will want to experience again and again will help us survive the recession."
